Colin Fraser
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1957, Colin Fraser is known for his luminous still life and landscape paintings, which have earned recognition across Europe and North America. After studying Fine Art and completing teacher training at Brighton Polytechnic in the late 1970s, he taught art in Worthing, England, and later in Sweden before leaving teaching in 1983 to devote himself fully to painting.
Fraser initially worked in oils and watercolor but found that neither medium delivered the clarity and intensity of color he sought. He eventually turned to egg tempera, a demanding centuries-old technique that combines pigment with egg yolk as a binder. With little contemporary guidance available, Fraser spent nearly a decade refining his own process, developing the meticulous method that now defines his work.
His carefully composed still lifes and landscapes evoke a quiet, contemplative atmosphere. Fraser lives and works in Sweden, where he continues to create paintings distinguished by their luminosity, precision, and restraint.
