'Landscape'
Born in Philadelphia, PA. Attended Chesnut Hill Academy and The Philadelphia School of Industrial Art. Exhibited: Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, 1934, 1936, 1938, 1939. Has won many awards including Award of Merit for the Advancement of Watercolor Arts, The Pennell Medal, and First Prize from the American Society of Miniature Painters. His work is in the permanent collections of The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Detroit Museum of Art, The Florida Gulf Coast Museum, and The Woodmere Art Museum where, in 1992, he was honored with a retrospective exhibition. Signed lower right "John Lear".

GEORGE LASZLO
b. 1891
'Fishermen Mending the Nets'
Painter, etcher, and lecturer George Laszlo was born in 1891 in Hungary. Later, as a resident of New York City, he painted scenes of New York, Massachusetts and in the greater New Hope area of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He studied at the Art Students League of New York, and under E. Feiks in Budapest. He was a member of the American Artists Congress. Who was Who in American Art, Mallet, and Index of Artists.
